Summer Missionlab is starting in less than a month! We will begin welcoming over 2,000 students, youth leaders, and families who are getting ready to serve with MissionLab here in New Orleans.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing, one by one, our Summer Missionaries that will be serving with us. These Summer Missionaries partner with MissionLab for 9 weeks of ministry. They are here to minister to the groups and help facilitate easy communication between the groups and the MissionLab staff.

Help us welcome Delaney to the team!

How old are you?

Are you in school? If so, where, and what are you studying?

I’m currently working in order to save for college.

Have you been to New Orleans before?

Yes, 3 times. (One of which was for a whole month!) I have been a student at Missionlab for 3 years and spent 3 weeks as an intern with Jesus Project Ministries.

What made you want to work for MissionLab?

MissionLab has a special place in my heart as a place of growth and sort of refuge. I want to help students have the same incredible experiences that I had!

What’s one thing you’re looking forward to this summer?

I can’t wait to meet mission teams and serve alongside them as I watch them grown and be transformed!

What’s your favorite genre of music?

I like most music, but I do love the oldies! (20’s-80’s only because teh 90’s and early 00’s just weren’t very good to music.)

What’s your favorite movie?

I’m more of a TV show person. But if I had to pick a movie it would be Captain Marvel.

What’s your favorite food?

Ice Cream! And Thai. And Chinese. And Mexican. I can’t pick one.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you?

Ugh. It was during my brief career as a flag football player. My team was losing. Bad. My coach gave me the ball to run. He had been telling us to just make mid-field, just work for mid-field. So the signal came, I got the ball and I started running. I ran all the way to mid-field. No one had caught up to me; I had a clear shot for a touchdown. Then I stopped and looked back at my teammates with a look that said “We did it!” The screams of “Keep running! Go! Go! Go!” Didn’t register until my flag had been pulled. Needles to say, I quickly learned that sports just aren’t for me. I was 15

Would you rather have the power to fly, or the power of invisibility, and why?

Fly! I get chills thinking of how it would feel to soar through the air, wind in my hair. (And how cool would it be to just fly wherever I wanted FOR FREE?)

If you could use any quote to sum up your life, what would it be?

2 Tim. 2:13 “If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself”
And “There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” C.S. Lewis
