Hey, everybody!

We have some very exciting news to share with you: our 2019 camp pastors and band! Each of them are so ready to meet all of you and preach the word of God into your lives at camp this year. We’re pumped to have them on our team again this year, and we cannot wait for you to get here and meet them in real life! A virtual meeting will have to do for now, though. Without further ado, let’s meet our 2019 camp pastors!

“Matthew is originally from Fayetteville, GA. After high school, he went to Shorter College for two years and then transferred to Georgia College and State University to pursue a Communications degree. He surrendered to ministry during his early years of college as he was getting active in a local church, through youth and college ministry. He also began to help lead the BCM on campus, and worked as a camp counselor in the summers with FUGE camps. After college, God opened a door for him to serve in a College & Young Adult Ministry at First Baptist Spartanburg, SC, which laid the foundation for where he is today. God then led him to New Orleans, LA to pursue his Masters of Divinity degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He graduated seminary with his M.Div. at the end of 2016 and got married to his wife Emily in April of 2017. Since then, he has served in various roles at Vintage Church NOLA, and now serves as the Ministries Pastor there. He has a passion for the local church, preaching the truth of God’s Word to all ages, leadership, caring for people and reaching others with the good news of the Gospel.”

Ryan Rice, Sr. is a native of New Orleans. After studying Mass Communications and Sociology at Dillard University, he proceeded to utilize his skills for communications by working in Corporate Communications, as well as Training and Development. After sensing a vocational call to ministry, Ryan went on as a children’s pastor at a large multi-campus church in Baton Rouge, La. In 2014, Ryan and his family moved back to New Orleans to plant Connect Church in the community of Algiers, where he grew up. Connect Church is now a multi-cultural, multi-generational church that seeks to serve the city of New Orleans with a message of hope, healing and restoration found in Jesus Christ. Ryan loves 70s and 80s old school music, trying new cuisines with his wife Seane’ and spending time with his four children: Ryan Jr., Brayden, Reagen and Bailey.

I am a sinner, a father, a husband, and a pastor redeemed by God’s grace and for God’s glory. As a teenager, God led me into Christian ministry at a small local church in the North Georgia mountains. It was there that I learned how to teach God’s Word from the pulpit, savor God’s Word in the prayer closet, and obey God’s Word through making disciples in the local church. It was there that I discovered God leading me into vocational ministry. After three years of serving as a youth pastor in that church, marrying the pastor’s beautiful daughter, Anne Marie, and completing my Christian Studies degree from Truett-McConnell University, we moved to the city of New Orleans where I would pursue an M.Div. During my studies at NOBTS, God granted us the opportunity to begin a local church college ministry named “devoted”. What began as a small group of college students studying the book of Acts would years later result in a church planting core team being sent out for the planting of St. Rose Community Church in St. Rose, LA. This is where we serve now and it is a dream come true. God has given me an overwhelming passion for his church, and for the mission of seeing his church multiply for his glory.

The Grace Well is a worship band from New Orleans, and for over a decade, they have led worship for Mission Lab. Their passion for ministry is to lead congregations to praise Jesus Christ, the giver of grace, from his well that never runs dry. The band has written and recorded three albums including Not Ours But Yours, a brand new set of worship songs released in 2018.
